I’ve just been having loads of fun making my first tree. I’ve not had much experience in paper piecing but I really got into the rhythm of it tonight. Here’s a sneak peek
I’ve been inspired to make a tree quilt ever since I saw the wonderful quilts made by Leila over at Sewn by Leila. So the idea has been sat there in the back of my mind just waiting until…
A wonderful opportunity presented itself to be involved in an exciting project & make a tree. So I’ve found the perfect pattern, it’s a free download from Craftsy, and then the procrastination set in. It’s paper piecing, yikes!!!
Now I’m not very experienced in paper piecing, but I do “get it” but only for the first 30 minutes after it’s been explained to me. There lies the problem!
But I have just discovered a wonderful YouTube video that makes it crystal clear. Hooray for Amanda from 3and3quarters 🙂
Now to make some practice blocks
Happy Sewing xxx
My quilting mojo is back!!! It reappeared at about 5:30 this morning, I know an unnatural time to be awake
I’ve been plodding away in the background starting quilts, getting bored & not finishing them. Keeping up to date with blogs & YouTube videos, but not feeling any original design spirit.
That’s all changed this morning. A friend of mine, Rosemary, issued a Christmassy HST challenge & I’ve been wracking my brain as to what to make. I now have 2 ideas all sketched out & hopefully I can get needle to cotton very soon
Watch this space, interesting times are afoot!
I’ve brought my EPP hexagons away on holiday with me as I always do, but how can I concentrate on sewing when I have a spectacular view like this!
It has given me inspiration for a landscape quilt or wallhanging instead though. I’ll just need to wait until I’m home to print off the picture, draw the outlines & get it enlarged ready for appliqué.
Happy Sewing 🙂
It was organised by Leila over on her blog, if you don’t follow her blog then check it out, she’s just lovely. Not that I’ve ever met her, that’s just the way that she comes over in her writing
Anyways, being so new to quilting I knew that I didn’t have enough scraps to make the quilt. So I popped it on the back boiler. Followed the rest of her posts with interest & coo’d over the final quilt. But still knew it would be a while off before I’d have enough scraps
So this morning I was making up some half square triangles using half square triangle paper (but that’s a whole different post) & I looked at the scraps & thought to myself, they’d be perfect.
A neaten up & a couple of seams & ta da my first 2 blocks.
The lovely Kerry from Pennydog is having a giveaway in celebration of her 1000th post! Pop on over & you could win yourself 3 lurverly FQs 🙂
But don’t enter too many times because I want to win x
poor little neglected blog!
Well I have been a busy bee juggling work & family life & trying to squeeze in some sewing. I’m actively working in 3 quilts at the minute. 2 I-spy quilts for the kids to take on holiday & then ultimately for in the car. And a practice triangle quilt. Am I the only person silly enough to make a practice quilt? I have a lovely layer cake but I don’t want to commit to cutting it up until I am sure I know what I’m doing. So I ordered a couple of FQ bundles of Sakura (I think it’s by Moda) & I’ve been busy making half square triangles.
Why do I never have photos at the right time for my blog?
